My introduction to mirrorless cameras
My introduction to a mirrorless camera, was when I got tired of the bulky Canon eos 450d and bought Canon eos m. It was brilliant, but after a while I thoght it was to small for my hands and I was missing the viewfinder. At this time Sony A7 and A7r had reached the market, and I was curious how full frame would impact in my images. I allready had collected many legacy lenses, which all of them covered full frame, so this would bee the perfect choice for me. I bought a used Sony A7 and it was really perfect. I began to realise I had to buy a lens with autofocus, because it was tricky when my kids moved. I also found that longer lenses would need stabilisation, because of the magnification of my vibrations with longer focal lenghts. I bought Sony A7ii and later A7rii. Image stabilisation and the ergonomics where very welcome with A7xii cameras. I love my current A7rii, but many lenses are not so good in corners any more, A7ii was better for them, but I like the high resolution of A7rii, more settings and very nice viewfinder.
When it comes to wideangle lenses, I think manual focus is the best way of shooting landscapes. I have tried many brands of legacy lenses and modern expensive lenses on Sony A7rii. Loxia and Voigtländer are the best modern lenses, if wider than 28mm, in my experience. But if you want lightweight, sharp corners, low ca and nice manual focusing, there are many to choose from which onley has some compromices.
In my experince Minolta md rokkor 28mm f2.8 and Minolta md 35mm f2.8 are good examples of lenses that are lightweight and has nice manual focusing, image quality is also very good. Minolta md 50mm f2 and Minolta md zoom 35-70mm f3.5 macro, and they are really nice.
Anyway in my experince, legacy wideangel lenses wider than 28mm are not so good. I know Canon fdn 20mm f2.8 and 24mm f2.8 are quite good, but they have problem with some amount of ca in borders and corners, which i dont like. At a time I had Olympus om 21mm f3.5,Canon fdn 20mm f2.8, Super-Takumar 20mm f4.5, SMC Pentax 20mm f4 and a borrowed Loxia 21mm f2.8. I then realised how good the Loxia was, the Legacy wideangles didnt had a chance, so I just had to buy the Loxia.
Canon fdn lenses are generally very good lenses on Sony A7 series cameras and mirrorless apsc.
